Cashing in Fake Money at Area Businesses

By WBNG News

Fake money is floating into the registers at some local businesses...

And it has owners on high alert.

This Dunkin' Donuts on Reynolds Road in Johnson City reports it received counterfeit 50 and 100 dollar bills.

The store posted a sign informing customers it will no longer accept bills larger than 20-dollars.

A Dunkin' Donuts manager says employees are checking any incoming 20's with a counterfeit pen.

Binghamton Police have received 4 or 5 reports of counterfeit money in recent weeks.

Detectives say the cases have been handed over to the United States Secret Service.
