Conklin's Board Meeting began on a somber note tonight after the death of one of its members.

Board member James Ayres died at his home on August 16th of a heart attack.

The 59-years-old served on the town's board for five years.

Town Supervisor Debbie Preston said the beginning of the meeting was especially difficult with Ayres' empty seat a constant reminder.

Ayres had planned to run for Town Justice.

Preston says she is unsure how Ayres' spot on the board will be filled.
