Drivers Beware

Drivers Beware

By WBNG News

Some local gas stations used deceptive practices...

To overcharge you for gas.

That's according to State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

They include a Dandy Mart in Nichols.

A Dandy Mart in Burdett on Lake Street.

A Sunoco on Dryden Road in Ithaca and the Sunoco on Union Street in Sidney.

With the Labor Day weekend ahead, Cuomo is warning drivers.

He says those stations used one of two ways to deceive people:

The first is by imposing a surcharge on customers who use a credit card, which is not allowed in New York.

The second, is called the "bait and switch."

That's when stations list the lower, cash only price, on their street signs.

Then charge higher prices for credit-card customers.
