The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested a man accused of pouring hot water on a child's face.

19 year old Lawrence Allan Painter, Jr of Exeter is charged with felony assault and child endangerment.

He's accused of physically abusing his 16 month old daughter.

The sheriff says the baby girl had burns and a laceration to the face.

Her parents brought her to Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown Tuesday.

The investigation revealed that Painter, Jr. became upset with the child while babysitting.

The Sheriff says he and poured hot water on her face causing partial thickness bums.

The child also received a laceration above her eye from falling down after she was burned and not being properly supervised.

Painter, Jr. was sent to the Otsego County Jail with bail set at $25,000.

If convicted he faces up to 7 years in prison.
