Water Well Going In Nichols Park

By WBNG News

The Village of Nichols board votes unanimously to place a new water well in it's park.

It will go in Kirby Park.

Mayor Doug Horton says the village needs a new source of water.

But he didn't want it here in Nichol's only park.

Despite the mayors stiff opposition.

The Village Board passed the proposal by a vote of 4-0, with Horton abstaining.

"You see this is a lovely little park. And I think this is an intrusion on the park that could be elsewhere" "this is a bad place to put a well for pottable water for this community," said Horton.

Others think it won't be an issue.

"it's really not going to be a problem for anything that the park is being used for." "And we're getting a bonus of getting water in the park which we currently don't have so for me tonight has been a successful evening," said Marie Pierson of Nichols.

The village is working with United Water.

Next, the project will go out to bid.

No word yet on when construction will begin.
