Fatal Construction Equipment Accident in Chemung County

A piece of heavy construction equipment tips over, and kills a Chemung County man.

The Chemung County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death which happened Friday afternoon, on Chambers Road, in the Town of Catlin.

Deputies say the victim was using a Caterpillar roller on private property.

The machine tipped on it's side and killed the operator.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated.

The victim has been identified as 48 year-old Dana Stermer of Pine City.
