BU Opens New Jewish Center

By WBNG News

Binghamton University is now home to one of the largest Jewish student centers in the nation.

This is the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the Chabad Center for Jewish Life

The 3.5-million dollar building is attached to the university's existing Jewish center.

Inside, there's a library, café and gym.

There's also a Holocaust memorial.

Binghamton University students say they visit the Chabad Center for Friday night dinners.

"If I ever want to practice my religion, whether I'm at home or away from home, there's always a place to go. It's really rare that you have this in a school, that where you can go to and always have a place where you feel like you're at home. It's a very family atmosphere here," said Matt Stevens, a student at Binghamton University.

The Chabad Center is on Murray Hill Road in Vestal.

It's within walking distance from campus.

And is the largest Jewish student Center in the entire State University of New York system.
