Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

By WBNG News

More than 6-thousand people make strides in the fight against breast cancer.

The 13th annual "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk was held at Recreation Park in Binghamton.

It was sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

245-thousand dollars was raised for cancer research and for local support groups.

3-thousand breast cancer survivors proudly wore pink "survivor" t-shirts to show their unity.

"I'm a survivor, I'm proud of it, and I want to make people who, who are newly diagnosed to know that there's, there's hope for us," said Ellen Kumpom, a breast cancer survivor.

"You're not the only one. There's a lot of us out there and hopefully we'll all be survivors and be strong," said Darlene Harrington of Greene.

Action News is helping in the fight against breast cancer.

Samantha Augeri, Caitlin Nuclo, and James Gaddis turned out for the event.

The walk kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness month.
