A storied professor encourages people to become active in their community, and play a part in history.

Dr. Howard Zinn was the keynote speaker this evening at Binghamton University's Social Justice Conference.

His speech was titled War and Social Justice.

Zinn fought in World War II, and was active in the civil rights movement.

He says people should find a cause to support, whether it's the environment, women's rights, or an issue in your community.

"I think a lot of people are disheartened by the state of the world, and the state of the country. I guess I see my job as lifting people's spirit," said Howard Zinn Ph. D.

Zinn has authored numerous books, and is currently a professor at Boston University.
