A group travels into the country, recruiting volunteers and bringing some welcome relief.

Samaritan's Purse International Disaster Relief rolled into Binghamton on Thursday.

The group came from Alberta, Canada.

During the next month they'll bring 20 volunteers to help clean out flood-damaged homes.

So far, two volunteers are here, but the group is also recruiting local help.

It says more than a dozen people from local churches will join its efforts.

"When we found out there was a disaster we could help out, we wanted to come down to help because we have the resources. We might as well be using them properly," said Jason Geddert with Samaritan's Purse.

If you'd like to join Samaritan's Purse volunteer force, call the offices at Davis College in Binghamton at 765-3456.

You can also stop by Davis College and fill out a volunteer application at the group's relief trailer.

You can visit them from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.during the work week.
