A change in the Code of Conduct following a tense school soccer game.

The Southern Tier Athletic Conference, or STAC, accepted recommendations.

STAC's making changes as a result of a junior varsity girls soccer match between Vestal and Horseheads.

Horseheads claimed racial slurs forced them to leave the field.

Vestal said it was a misunderstanding.

STAC formed a committee of 4 athletic directors to look into supervision of fans and athletes at sporting events.

At today's meeting, they presented an updated Code of Conduct

"We have many students in all different sports playing and we want them to be treated correctly with respect. Therefore, this is simply an upgrade that all schools in STAC would be adopting as far as what occurs in their home events," says Richard Stank, President of STAC.

STAC's 18 athletic directors approved.

They have the main responsibility for enforcement with help from coaches and site supervisors.
