Commission to list nominees for NY chief judge
The state Commission on Judicial Nomination
will announce seven nominees to head the state's court system as
chief judge of the Court of Appeals, New York's highest court.
The 12 unpaid commission members - four each chosen by the chief
judge, Legislature and governor - will present the list to the
governor Monday without a recommendation. Chief Judge Judith Kaye,
70, must retire Dec. 31.
Gov. David Paterson will choose a nominee in the first 15 days
of January, subject to state Senate confirmation.
