Village Hall To Relocate?

By WBNG News

Next week voters in Waverly will decide whether they want Village Hall to move to a former school building.

Tonight was their chance to weigh in on the plan.

Some Waverly leaders want to move village hall to the former Ithaca Street school.

They say the current building is outdated, and doesn't have enough space.

Moving would cost about 2.9 million dollars, which includes renovations to the former school.

But some people say the tax increase the project would bring, makes it tough to support.

"As far as I'm concerned it's not an option because we have a village hall. It's all bought and paid for," Don Merrill of Waverly said. "This Ithaca street thing is almost a joke. The building is in horrible condition."

Taxpayers in Waverly will vote on the proposal December 11th at the Village Annex at 362 Broad Street from noon until 9 pm.
