A former Binghamton University Student beaten into a coma says he has no memory of the attack.

22 year old Bryan Steinhauer spoke to the media for the first time from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Almost a year has passed since Steinhauer was beaten at the Rathskeller Bar in Binghamton.

Police charged 3 men and one suspect, Miladin Kovacevic, fled the country to his native Serbia after posting bail.

Steinhauer says he's just a normal guy who got stuck in a bad situation and kept a positive attitude.

He says recovery is the best revenge.

"I just want to say I love you to my mom and dad. My last word, live long and prosper," said Steinhauer.

Steinhauer was in a coma for about two months, and after intensive therapy left the hospital last December.

The Serbian government paid Steinhauer 900-thousand dollars.

The payment is part of an agreement to have Kovacevic prosecuted in Serbia.

Broome District Attorney Gerald Mollen agreed to transfer evidence after he met with the Serb prosecutors in March.
