Candidates For State Assembly Lupardo And Dinga Square Off

Donna Lupardo and Jay Dinga agree change is needed in Albany.

But have different opinions on how to do so.

"My plan calls for spending freezes, that provides relief from unfunded mandates. Also, cut school property taxes by 50 percent. School districts will be given more control of their budgets," says Dinga.

"I want to find ways to make our area more attractive and our state more competitive. More attractive because let's face it, everyone is leaving. I want to bring people back here. I wanna keep people here as well," says Lupardo.

And when it comes the issue of healthcare...

"We need to help our local businesses provide health care that's more affordable," says Lupardo.

"We have billions of dollars that are spent on health care. We need to make sure the allocation of those dollars benefits the most amount of people," says Dinga.

There were a number of issues they agreed on.

Both are against the NYRI proposal to build a powerline through upstate New York.

And agree there needs to be more funding for upstate schools.

But they don't agree on the topic of Lupardo's voting record.

"Donna is very liberal. There's no doubt about that," says Dinga.

"As far as being very liberal, you should have a conversation with some of my downstate colleagues because they certainly don't think so," says Lupardo.

Both Lupardo and Dinga have experience in the Assembly..

But there's only room for one of them in Albany.
