Refueler Returns Home

By WBNG News

A Marathon man will help the Blue Angels fly home after this weekend's air show.

Air Force Staff Sergeant Daniel McCrillis landed at the Greater Binghamton Airport this afternoon.

His parents and other family members were waiting for him.

McCrillis works as a Boom Operator on the KC-135.

It's used to refuel other planes while in mid-air.

His mission this weekend is to refuel the Blue Angels on their return trip to Florida.

"They are not able to get to Pensacola without us so we're going up there and we're extending them so they can get there without stopping and that's basically what we do in theater for the current war going on. We refuel all their fighter and bomber aircrafts so they don't have to make unscheduled landings," McCrillis says.

McCrillis is a 2002 graduate from Marathon High School.

He will spend the weekend visiting with family and friends, before flying out at the end of the weekend.
