It's the most patriotic holiday of the year.

A day where America celebrates our country's independence.

And thousands of families from across the Southern Tier celebrated together.

At this year's Greater Binghamton Air Show.

Action News Reporter Leigh Dana has the story.

Flags waved in the wind and planes soared as thousands sat along the Greater Binghamton Airport runway and watched this year's 4th of July Greater Binghamton Air Show.

"What brings you back every year?" "The planes," says Eileen McCaffey.

"So what's the best part about today? The food or the airplanes?" "The food," comments Colin Steadman.

And of course those who like the airplanes better say they're here for one reason. And one reason only.

"We came out to see the Blue Angels," says James Aiken.

Jennifer Plohetskey says, "I wanna see the blue angels later. I wanna cause they are really cool."

"So what are you looking forward to the most?" "The Blue Angels of course, says Beal"

The Blue Angels...

U.S. Navy's premiere flying squadron...

Is the main attraction at this year's Air Show.

They demonstrate precision and grace.

And are among the best performances to fly through the sky.

And besides the food, fun and flying., one of the biggest attractions here literally is what's behind me. The C 6 Galaxy. It's the largest plane in the air force and can hold about 6 Greyhound buses.

Peter Abbe says, "It's pretty neat to get up and get inside one instead of watching it fly overhead."

Although it didn't fly high at the air show today, It was a sight not to be missed.

And families got to see it together, as they share the patriotic holiday with each other.

The Greater Binghamton Air show continues tomorrow from 10 to 430pm.

The Blue Angels will perform around 3:00.
