More questions.

And some more answers from the experts tonight on natural gas drilling.

An informational meeting was held in Binghamton.

And as Action News Reporter Rachael Hidalgo tells us, a majority of the questions focused on the areas water supply.

The experts at Cornell Cooperative Extension want you to be informed.

Before leasing away your land to natural gas companies.

"I want them to understand potential environmental impacts and have some idea of what they have to worry about have to do to prevent those," said Assistant Director Deborah Grantham.

Nearly a hundred landowners attended this information session.

They're well aware that the Marcellus Shale below, holds the nations largest natural gas basins.

Even though many could profit from the gas drilling, the one thing they're all concerned about is safety.

Especially the possible effects on their water supply.

"We just wanna see what we'd be up against. Ya know if we lease our land, what the environmental concerns are, whether it'd be risky for our water," said Brent Larson of Binghamton.

The panel of experts says drilling each natural gas well would require 3.5 million gallons of water.

But, the same water can be recycled as much as 3 times.

"It's a large amount of water, especially with the Chesapeake bay being such a unique, ecological resource. We need to be safeguard against things but I think we're making steps in the right direction," said Paleontologist Trisha Smrecak.

But, Smrecak says after multiple uses, that recycled water starts to accumulate excess salt, which can harm natural habitats and our drinking supply.

The panel suggests water testing be done both before and after usage, within 3-thousand feet of a gas well.

This way, drilling won't affect your neighbors water supply.

If you missed tonight's meeting, there's another one next week.

It's at Waverly High School Tuesday, July 28, from 7 to 9pm.
