Memorial Run for Marine Killed in Iraq

Tools

Runners remember a fallen Marine and state trooper during a race in Binghamton.

This is the inaugural John McKenna 5-K run at Recreation Park.

McKenna was killed last summer while serving in Iraq.

He was a former New York State Trooper from Albany, and served in the Marine Reserves.

McKenna was a 1998 graduate of Binghamton University, where he was a member of the crew team.

More than 1 hundred people ran today's course.

McKenna's family appreciated the turnout.

The B-U crew team sponsored today's race.

They raised more than 4 thousand dollars for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.

Some proceeds will be used for the New York State Trooper Scholarship Fund.

And some money will buy a crew boat baring McKenna's name.
