Seniors can walk away those winter blues indoors this year.

Broome County Office of Aging and local school districts are teaming up to offer seniors citizens a warm and safe place to walk during winter months.

Seniors can walk Monday through Friday during scheduled school times, unless the school is closed for holidays or snow days.

The benefits are endless for those willing to put their best foot forward towards a healthier life.

"It's great for chronic diseases, heart disease, blood pressure. It's great for falls prevention, just for muscle strength. And all you need is a pair of sneakers. So just because it's getting cooler, no reason to stop walking," says Broome County Office of Aging's Rita Fluharty.

To get a walking registration, you can visit your local school or call the office of aging at 778-2411.

The program runs until April 30th of next year.
