Vestal Elks Lodge 2508 spent the day giving a dictionary to every third grade student in the district.
One of the stops was here at Tioga Hills Elementary in Apalachin.
It's part of a program called the Dictionary Project.
The nonprofit group encourages students to do the best they can at reading and writing.
And that includes being able to understand what you read

The Vestal Elks handed out a total of 315 dictionaries today.
Elks Clubs throughout the US have given over 11 million dictionaries to students since the project started 7 years ago.
