Johnson City Dissolution Vote Stays Close

By WBNG News

Johnson City's dissolution proposition remains split by just one vote.

Reviewing results reported from election night did not change the numbers.

The Broome County Board of Elections recanvassed computer records to compared them to results phoned in from the polls on election night.

The process did find errors in the Binghamton Mayor's Race.

Mayor Matt Ryan's lead dropped to 56 over Republican Rich David.

Interested parties in Johnson City's dissolution battle are observing.

They're watching how the board determines if paper absentee ballots were properly filled out and whether they will be counted on November 12th.

"They did a great job with us today and sharing us the process that's being done," said Ken Fortier with the Johnson City Public Works Department.

"The kind of sunshine aspect to what they did today with allowing anybody, any interesting party to come in and watch and observe and make questions," said Bernie Sheredy of Johnson City.

20 of 47 affidavit ballots will not be counted next week.

Those are emergency ballots filled out at the polls.

The Board says the majority were from unregistered voters.
