Chemung Canal Trust Company will hold a free shredding event today in Vestal and Owego.

The event aims to help people reduce their exposure to identity theft.

Shredding will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Chemung Canal's Vestal office, located in the Weis Plaza at 100 Rano Blvd. in Vestal.

It will end at 3:00 p.m.

A mobile shredding tractor trailer will be stationed within the parking lot to allow the public easy access to drive in and drop off materials.

There is no charge for the service.
