Congressman Maurice Hinchey is hopeful the Senate will pass the Health Care Reform Bill by the end of the year.

The landmark bill narrowly cleared the House last week with a 220 to 215 vote.

Under the House plan, $36-million uninsured Americans would get coverage.

The bill would cost $1.2-trillion dollars over ten years...

But will cut $4-hundred billion from Medicare costs.

Hinchey says about 37 percent of the population in our area do NOT receive health care insurance through their employers.

"I hope it passes, absolutely, by the end of the year. That's very, very important. I hope the Senate is going to be wise enough and strong enough to stand up to the non-sensible that some people are engaged in to try and stop it," said Hinchey.

If the bill does not pass by December, Hinchey is confident it will pass by early next year.
