Call it iPod 101.

They're learning how to integrate mobile technology into their lesson plans

"It's the future. It's the market that we serve. The young generation of students. They're so technically savvy, some of us that are a little bit older, But we're excited," says BCC Dean of Continuing Education Debra Morello.

Here at the BCC's Town of Dickinson campus, Apple representatives explain how to podcast.

It allows students to download audio and video from class lectures anywhere they are.

"It's really an essential tool and it really extends what's going on in the classroom. It's an amazing technology," says Rick Bettencourt of Apple.

BCC assistant biology professor Jennifer Musa says podcasting will ease her students workload.

"We cover a lot of difficult content and students are looking for any extra ways that they can maybe work at home or go over things that were difficult in class," says BCC Asst. Biology Professor Jennifer Musa.

Teachers from nearby colleges were also on hand.

One teacher wants to introduce podcasting into Cornell University's communication program.

"It certainly sets an example for the students that we're trying to teach communications too, because we definitely don't want to be behind," says Cornell Communications Professor Roger Segelken.

And neither does BCC.

It's one of a handful of community college at the forefront of offering technology that lets busy students learn on the go.

Nearly every BCC class will integrate podcasting by the fall semester.

Also, the college is offering to help local high schools.

It would place their academic video and audio files on the BCC iTunes U service.
