Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Locals participate in a 90 second push up challenge to raise money for veterans and their families.

Saturday morning, about 50 people participated in the 'Push Ups for Charity' event held in Binghamton's First Church of Nazarene.

It was a 90 second challenge, where participants did as many push ups as they could. They were allowed to participate in several rounds and many of those participants had their push ups sponsored.

Most sponsors donated $1.00 for each push up the participants did.

Nearly $3,000 was raised and coordinators said that could easily double when sponsors actually pay for each push up they promised to match.

The goal of the day, was to have a combined total of 5,000 push ups.

The money raised from the event will go to the Boot Campaign, which helps veterans and their families who are facing challenges.
