Windsor Welcomes Home Rick Yarosh

By James Gaddis

A local soldier, critically injured in Iraq, is finally home tonight.

And the Town of Windsor, couldn't be happier.

Pulling out all the stops, to welcome back Rick Yarosh.

A hero returns.

Rick Yarosh arrived at the Greater Binghamton Airport at about 6:30.

The 25-year old almost died when the tank he was in exploded in Baghdad last September.

He spent the last year in Texas recovering.

The American Legion Riders were there to greet him...

Leading Yarosh and his family to Windsor.

We didn't get a chance to speak with Rick, but it was obvious he was glad to be back.

Giving a wave to our camera as he passed.

And waiting for him, was his home town of Windsor, which couldn't be prouder.

"Welcome home, you did a great job," says Donna Fettinger of Windsor.

"It's very important to us that he's home and that we're here to support him. And we're very proud of him," says Ginny Ditch of Windsor.

"I am glad that you are home," says Emily Forbidussicolvin of Windsor.

"What would you want to tell him if you get the chance?"

"Just that how proud of him I am of him and what a wonderful thing he's done," says Michael Egan of Windsor.

"We're very proud because he's from Windsor. Our home town. And he went all the way to Iraq and that's pretty cool," says Nick Miller or Windsor.

"Did what he believed in. I'm proud of him. He's got more guts than I have possibly."

The last time Rick was home was last April.

This weekend Yarosh will be the Grand Marshall for a parade marking Windsor's 200th anniversary.
