Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Students at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Binghamton got a lesson in giving.
Tuesday morning was the end of the schools three-week food drive.
Students from all grades came together and hand delivered the donations to a CHOW van.
"It is so important for the students to be involved in a service learning project in our community, to really know that you can participate in something without expecting something in return." said Amy Bennett, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School Social Worker. "It is a great service learning project for students and their families as well as staff"
It did not end at food donations.
As a part of their unit on capitalism, fifth graders handmade rubber band bracelets and sold them at their fall festival.
They raised $161.81, all of which they donated to CHOW.
