Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The way of learning has changed and the only way to keep up is to adapt.

That's what the Marriott family is doing for its hotels and is spreading that knowledge to Cornell University.

Three generations of the family gathered with students faculty and staff at Cornell University for the ribbon cutting the new Student Learning Center.

The space has computer work stations, Net-Print Printers, and portable projectors.

The purpose of the space is to give students a place that doesn't feel like a classroom, but where they can get their work done.

"It's a totally different way of learning. It's a much more collaborative. There's much more teamwork, a lot less of the individual and a lot less of the books and regurgitating and typing it on paper," said Debbie Marriott Harrison.

Harrison calls Starbucks an inspirations to the idea, a space where people doing all different things can congregate and accomplish.
