Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A new restaurant is bringing a new flavor to Johnson City, just in time for the chilly weather.

Food & Fire Barbecue Taphouse, 560 Harry L Drive, will officially open its doors on Monday. The signature dish is jalapeno smoke bombs and it's not short on beer.

The restaurant has 40 beers on tap, like the Southern Tier Crème Brulee, one of their local brews.

"I really believe if you tell people there's beer on tap and the smell of smoke in the air, people are going to show up," said owner Dan Polhamus.

Polhamus owns the new barbecue pit with two others, hoping to bring a new flavor to the area.

Owners and customers said they couldn't be happier with all that Food & Fire has to offer.

"It's a great thing," said Jaime Murphy of Endicott. "I think it's great for the Southern Tier to have something different for the area and I'm happy for them."

Murphy won the first beer poured at the new joint.

Owners said all the tips from their two soft openings will go to two local charities. The goal is to give each charity $1,000.
