Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Hundreds of people braved the rain for a taste of Italy Friday during the 8th annual Gusto Festival.

The event took place at George W. Johnson Park on the north side of Endicott, in what event organizers referred to as "Little Italy."

People had the chance to enjoy Italian music, and even the carousel played Italian music.

But the main event, of course, was the food.

Frank Bertoni, co-chairman of the festival, said the word "gusto" means "taste" in Italian.

Organizers wanted to give people a taste of what Endicott's Italian community is and was like.

"We've been trying the last couple of years to improve the children's part of it in the park," said Bertoni. "We added Italian music to the carousel and just trying to do things each year to make it a little bit better."

The food was prepared by area restaurants and included items like porchetta, braciole, and pasta fagioli.
