Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A new health care store opens in Binghamton and its first item of business was to donate a check to Catholic Charities.

WellCare Health Plans is in the Price Chopper Plaza on Glenwood Ave and donates $2,000 to Catholic Charities of Broome County during its grand opening.

WellCare specializes in medicare services for the elderly. It works on giving health insurance plans to seniors when medicare doesn't cover all costs.

To get the word out, WellCare will be traveling the area in their RV and stopping at nearby community events.

"It gives them an opportunity to meet personally," said Senior Marketing Director Todd Dalrymple. "One on one, and have that conversation and frankly it gives them a sense of comfort that they have an ability to talk to a person."

The director said it employs 8 people at its new location in Binghamton.

WellCare is open Monday through Friday, 5:30 am - 5:00 pm or by appointment.
