A different challenge for ALS

Delhi, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A gym in Delhi took a different approach to the viral ALS challenge videos.

About 40 people gathered at Catskill Kettlebells on Saturday to do the Kettlebell Challenge. The goal is to do as many kettlebell swings as possible in one hour.

Instead of donating directly to ALS, all donations went to the Silver Strand Foundation. The group supports military families with both ALS and PTSD.

"I was really hoping that we could just have some people in the community come together and donate a large chunk of money to helping get the word out about ALS," said gym owner Roger Hall.

The target was 10,000 kettlebell swings in one hour. When the hour was up, more than 16,000 swings had been counted.

After the workout was over, the group finished off the day with the classic ice bucket cool-down.
