Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Back in March, Assistant District Attorney Adam Schumacher announced his intent to run for the office vacated by Republican Gerald Keene.
Keene had served the country for more than 25 years.
He was elected last year to the Tioga County Court as a judge.
Schumacher is the second of three Republicans to enter the race.
He said Tuesday although he won't be the biggest spender in the race, he has the experience behind him.
"I don't think you can really buy a vote, especially in Tioga County," Schumacher said. "I think the residents are pretty knowledgeable and they need to be given credit for that."
He's spent 13 years in the DA's office and more than 20 years as an lawyer.
Irene Graven and Kirk Martin have also announced their candidacy.
Candidates still must file a 1,000-signature petition by mid-summer to qualify for the ballot.
The Republican primary is scheduled for Sept. 10.
