(WBNG Binghamton) The Greater Binghamton Air Show took flight Friday night, entertaining thousands.

Crowds started lining up two hours before the gates opened.

"We got here at about 4:15" said Castle Creek resident Elizabeth Lamere. "We haven't been here in years and years so this should be interesting, and I know they haven't had one in four or five years so, it'll be fun."

It was the first nighttime air show experience for many spectators.

"I've never been to a night air show, so I'm really excited," said Ithaca resident Linda Garrett. "The jumpers with pyrotechnics sounded fascinating and again whatever they're gonna do as far as light and air show."

Melissa Post traveled all the way from Sara, PA to see the air show today.

"The show was amazing five years ago," said Post. "It really was quite a wonderful experience and we're really glad to be back here to see another air show in Binghamton."

"Happy 4th of July to everybody," said Post. "You should be here! If you're not here tonight you should be here tomorrow night."
