Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Animal Adventure's second annual Jungle Bells kicked off at Binghamton's Forum Theater on Saturday.

The event was complete with kangaroos, chinchillas, and even a parrot. Nearly 100 kids had already filled the Forum by 11 a.m. Last year, more than 400 showed up.

Organizers said they want kids to get an up close and personal look at these animals. At similar events, they encourage petting. Organizers said if kids learn to be gentle with animals at a young age, they'll learn to appreciate them.

"Once you appreciate them and understand them, that harbors the positive relationship we want people to have with animals," said Animal Adventure owner, Jordan Patch.

Broome County Executive Debbie Preston sponsored the event, making it free and open to the public.
