(WBNG Binghamton) A new local anti-fracking network was born today with a single but powerful message: We will protest a decision that allows drilling in New York.

Save TheSouthernTier.org was born from a network that aims to unify the already existing anti-fracking groups around the tiers to present one untied voice to Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Residents from five different counties stepped up to the podium Thursday to share their concerns for the possibility of Hydro-Fracking coming to New York.

They hope to ramp up current anti-fracking efforts and say they are prepared to take significant action to make sure fracking is not allowed.

Binghamton Mayor Matthew Ryan said, "6000 people have signed on to a pledge to commit non violent civil disobedience to prevent this industry from coming to New York."

Save The Southern Tier claims the governor has been misinformed about the level of support fracking has in the southern tier...

The group presented a letter they sent to Cuomo to request an audience with the governor to plead their case.
