Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Town of Union officials are making headway with their continued work on flood recovery.

On Wednesday, the board selected the companies that will appraise the 176 properties in the town's buyout program through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Supervisor Rose Sotak said officials have divided the work to make sure the process is as efficient as possible.

"We're selecting different areas, we divided it out," Sotak said. "That way we feel we can do the process more fairly to the residents and also in a faster method, instead of one appraiser doing 176."

Those areas are Westover, Fairmont Park, South Endwell and West Corners.

There will also be a general appraisal service for miscellaneous parcels.

The board on Wednesday unanimously approved each of lowest bidders.

Sotak said she hopes the appraisals start as soon as possible, although she's couldn't provide a firm date.
