Town of Greene, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Chenango County woman is charged with the killing of nearly three dozen dogs when she allegedly set her basement on fire.
New York State Police responded to 700 State Route 206 in Greene for a report of a despondent woman Monday.
An investigation found that 62-year-old Michele Keech set fire to her home's basement, extensively damaging the home and killing 33 dogs inside.
She is charged with arson in the third degree, a class C felony, and felony aggravated cruelty to animals.
She was arraigned in the Town of Coventry Court and released on her own recognizance.
