Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) First Friday kicks off to a tasty start in Binghamton.

The Broome County Arts Council held its first-ever First Friday Food Tastings.

Cindy Rotella, owner of Regalo Gifts and Designs, prepared an artwork of food for guests to taste.

Her company prepares gourmet foods, and tonight the menu included blue cheese cake with baby greens, candied walnuts, fresh pear vinaigrette, chicken Marsala, fresh vegetables with an onion cream sauce, and cupcakes.

The food tasting was part of an opening reception for a new exhibition of paintings by Joseph Lindsley.

"Cooking is like I'm painting a canvas, and when I paint a painting, I'm also just kind of absorbed in it in the same way. I think the food has to be very tasteful, nothing should be overpowering, and the presentation should be really elegant," said Rotella.

"I hope it's going to get people to look at it and find out something about themselves, and their reaction to it," said Lindsley.

Lindsley's exhibit, an ongoing Journey featured artwork he's composed throughout the past fifty to sixty years.

He says it's a look back on his life.
