Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton University student athletes spent a little extra time on the field on Friday to show off the new outdoor facilities.
The four year, $5 million project includes 12 tennis courts, six handball courts and two basketball courts.
Also new varsity baseball and softball fields with new dugouts, bleachers, press box and scoreboard.
Giving the student athletes a little extra motivation.
"Every facet of the game is just a little bit better now, just because of the facility that we have. In practices, you know everyone's taking a little bit more time, and putting in a little bit extra effort because of the new field, it's definitely a plus this year," said Bijan Mangouri, a Binghamton University baseball player.
Student athletes are expecting a better turnout at games this year because of the new facilities.
They hope the new facilities can host a conference tournament in the future.
"You know certainly from an athletics perspective these facilities really complete our whole entire sports complex. It's one of the best facilities in the East, and it helps us to recruit quality student athletes," said Athletic Director Patrick Elliott.
