Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) More than 1,000 students showed up for Binghamton University's Fall Job and Internship Fair.

"I'm hopefully looking for a job," said BU senior Amit Singh. "I'll be graduating in May 2013. And this is a great opportunity for students to come and check out the employers and hopefully find a job."

94 employers showed up to meet with the eager students. That's up from 76 last year.

Local companies made up most of the booths including Amphenol and Frito Lay.

BU said their students are an important resource to local businesses.

"A lot of the students will help employers with their short term needs as interns," said career counselor Bill McCarthy. "And a lot of times they'll be hired as full time opportunities to stay in the area to help their employers grow and get their product out to customers."

Most employers were hiring students of any major.

The next career fair is scheduled for the spring.
