Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton University is always striving to be bigger and better. Friday morning, the B.U. Council met to discuss future plans for its Research Department.
The research program strives to be transparent so the community and other researchers in the area can be involved in its process.
The department is working to improve its research in health care, smart energy, citizenship and cultural understanding, material and visual worlds, and sustainable communities.
"Students want to come to a campus where there's outstanding research because it means they're learning the latest state of the art in every field that we study," said Vice President of the Research Department, Bahgat Sammakia.
Binghamton University is also three years into a five year hiring program which will increase its staff by 150 employees. The new hires could mean more research programs for students.
