Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Bearcats Sports Complex was transformed into a salon, all for a good cause.

Binghamton University athletes, students and faculty came together to lose their locks for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Participants could trim their hair for Locks of Love, or go for the full buzz cut.

Event organizers say as of Saturday, more than $18,000 was raised.
But, that amount is expected to increase because dozens of people just walking by decided to help out.

"I think somebody sees someone donating their hair or shaving their hair, and it inspires them," Kaitlyn Martin said. "I know two girls who came in today and they weren't even planning on touching their hair. But all of a sudden, they see everyone else doing it, and they say 'Oh, it's such a great cause. Why not join.'"

Saturday's event was the second time BU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, along with Residential Life and Alpha Phi Omega, hosted the event.
