Newark Valley, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An early morning fire in Tioga County destroyed a barn and the homeowner's pickup truck.

The call came in around 7 am Tuesday morning for a working barn fire at 9884 rt 38 North.

Fire crews had to use an emergency access road to reach the barn because of bridge construction on Rt. 38.

It was construction workers who first saw smoke and alerted the homeowners.

The fire destroyed a barn, pickup truck, and partially burned two nearby tool sheds.

Mutual aid from six other fire departments helped put out the fire. They were Berkshire, Richford, Owego, Union Center, West Corners, and Maine Fire Departments.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
