Local exterminators say they are getting a more than usual amount of calls about bed bugs.
Douglas Ritter, owner of "The Bug Killer" in Lisle, says a lot more people are traveling from overseas and big cities like New York..
Bringing the bugs home with them on their clothes or in their bags.
Ritter says people are also bringing the insects back from hotels and movie theaters.
"Three, four, five years ago we'd maybe get one to three calls a year about bed bugs. Last year I got more bed bug calls than I did the previous twenty years combined. This year I'm doing three times more than I did last year." said Douglas Ritter of The Bug Killer
Ehrlich Pest Control in Johnson City is also busy fighting bed bugs.
