Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton City Council President Teri Rennia has announced her bid for city mayor.
If elected, she says she will alter the course set by current city administration.
Rennia says her campaign will focus on how to make the city richer in opportunities for people of all ages.
"I wanted to do it because I really do love this city and the community, and I really do want this to be a place my children can call home forever," Rennia said during her announcement Thursday afternoon at the Grand Royale Hotel. "And I know a lot of changes are going to have to be made in order to do that."
Rennia has been on City Council for seven years and has served as council president for two terms. She's also served as the chairwoman of the council's finance committee for four years.
She says her experience on city council and her business background make her a strong candidate for mayor.
Rennia owns a series of businesses that share the name Environ.
If elected, Rennia said Thursday she would improve Binghamton's infrastructure, reduce crime and clean up the city.
