Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton City Public Works advised a portion of Felters Road will be closed through the weekend.
The department has to take steps to stabilize the ground underneath the road due to saturation from a water main break last week.
Felters Road is closed from Conklin Avenue to Saratoga Avenue.
Terry Kellogg, Deputy Public Works Commissioner, said crews had to undercut the roadway to remove unstable soil.
Additional time is needed for the road surface to firm up after placement of new materials to stabilize the ground.
Kellogg said the department expects to open the road early Monday morning, weather permitting.
It appreciates the cooperation and patience of the traveling public.
