Binghamton announces 54th Annual Columbus Day Parade

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The 54th Annual Mirabito Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival is announced for Monday October 14.

The parade attracts around 10,000 people each year and includes almost a dozen marching bands, classic cars, and plenty of homemade Italian food.

The city of Binghamton together with the Downtown Binghamton Business Association made the announcement at the Metro Center.

Ron Sall, president of the Downtown Binghamton Business Association, said the festival will be bigger than ever.

"We will be working with our Italian community to put on an expanded Italian festival with quality music by Splash and traditional Italian foods," Sall said.

Joel Boyd, assistant director for economic development in Binghamton, said the parade is the perfect way to honor Italian history in Binghamton and in the rest of the country.

"It's a day for all Binghamton residents to recognize our Italian ancestry," Boyd said, "And the contributions of people of Italian descent to our country.

The parade will march down Main Street and proceed onto Court Street past Boscovs.

It all begins at ten in the morning Monday October 14.
