Town of Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Broome County Sheriff's Office linked human remains found behind 24 Airport Road to a man wanted for sexual contact with a child.

Deputies report the body was identified as Paul Terwilliger, 55, a former resident of 4 Airport Road.

Terwilliger went missing on May 8, 2013, one day after being released on bail from the Broome County jail. Terwilliger was charged with sexual contact with a child, a felony.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office began investigating Terwilliger's disappearance. A nationwide arrest warrant was issued for Terwilliger. During the investigation, deputies found a suicide note believed to be written by the 55-year-old.

Broome County Coroner Dr. Timothy Jones identified the body using dental records Saturday morning.

The body was discovered just hours before the identification by a hunter who called 911.

Deputies responded to 24 Airport Road around 9:30 a.m. They found the human remains about 200 yards behind the home in a wooded area.

Investigators said the body was severely decomposed. The remains were moved to Lourdes Hospital for a cause of death investigation.

Deputies said no foul play is suspected in the case.
